The analog to the Player is what I call the "Incarnational Soul," the part of the Soul that oversees and becomes involved with a specific incarnation. Is this the same as the Daimon? Yes, I believe so. There is part of the Incarnational Soul itself that cannot be fully embodied and does not become the ego or the personality—the "Character." Even though dedicated to the manifestation of a particular incarnation, it is still a more complex patterning of energy and consciousness than can normally function in a three-dimensional world.

However, obviously information and awareness flows between the three levels of David, Player, and Character in a role-playing game. I am still aware of being all three identities when I play. I can say that I "lose myself in the game," but in fact, I don't. I never fully forget that I am David or that I am playing a game and that the Character is only my avatar in the game. This is true for soul, as well. Our personality is not severed from our soul; there is a continuum of consciousness at some level of our being, which we can touch in moments of transpersonal ecstasy or awareness.

And there's something else, which I will call the Consciousness of the Game, again using the RPG metaphor. When I play, a fourth awareness arises that is not the same as my usual David consciousness and which is other than that of the Player and the Character. It is an emergent awareness arising from the experience of the play of the game itself. It's more than just the pleasure at playing; it's a self-reflective awareness of the game itself, of the contrast between my different levels of identity and of the relationship between them. In other words, this fourth level of awareness requires all of the other three to be present and interactive in order to exist. In a way, it is the experience of this awareness and the pleasure it brings that leads me to participate in the RPG in the first place.

I think of this as the emergent presence of my incarnation, and I think of it as the spirit of the incarnational system itself. It's not wholly my soul nor the incarnate soul, nor is it the world soul within me, nor the soul of humanity within me, nor is it my personality. It is no one part of my incarnation, but it is what emerges from the system that these parts together co-create. Perhaps it is the spirit of the Entelechy. Whatever I call it, I believe that a goal of my incarnation is to become aware of and to hold this spirit of the whole system. Furthermore, this is not a transpersonal experience, for this spirit reflects the specificity, the particularity, of my unique incarnation; it is very personal indeed, though it is not egoic.

For this reason, I feel that an over-emphasis on transpersonal states misses the point of the incarnation and actually interferes with the emergence and experience of this spirit of the incarnational system as a whole. To return to my RPG metaphor, if I always keep reminding myself that I'm really David and that my identities as Player and Character are only figments of my imagination and therefore unreal and unimportant, I never truly enter into the spirit of the game and gain the full experience it could offer me. In fact, that's true if I lose myself in any of the roles. It's in the space between them that I find myself.

For me, an incarnational spirituality is one that seeks this central space. Even for angels, it is a holy place.

As I understand it, the more participants there are in a system, the greater its potential depth and complexity. A soul might not be able to incarnate fully into a simple three-dimensional physical body, but it can incarnate more of itself into increasingly complex systems developed by solid and dependable patterns, relationships and connections built up over time. In a sense, it may well take an entire world to incarnate a single soul fully, and by the time those kinds of connections and patterns are made, we are all participating is such a communion and thus all incarnating each others' souls. That may well be the meaning of a Master whose love is such that he or she is deeply and profoundly connected with the wholeness of the world and thus able to manifest a robust and "full-bodied" expression of soul, a "planetary soul."

This is the same idea that a net held by many people can catch and support a heavier mass than one held by fewer people or by one person alone. And if in addition I tie the ends of my net to trees, rocks, animals, and so on, then I could "catch" a great deal.

In a practical way, these connections are made through love and compassion, hence the need for these qualities in expression if I am to fully incarnate. (I might say here that some years ago one of my non-physical colleagues made the comment that the problem with humanity wasn't that we were too incarnated or too physical but that we weren't incarnated enough. A deeper understanding of incarnation as engagement and connectedness—as creating a wider and more sturdy net—explains why he might say such a thing.)

The process of creation is called “descent” (nuzul), referring to the top-down emanation of the Universe from its source in pure consciousness. The reciprocal process of bottom-up reintegration is called “ascent” (‘uruj). In this process, the perfume is distilled from the fading rose of the Earth and infused into Eternity.

As souls descend and ascend along the cosmic Jacob’s Ladder, they meet. The rising soul is attracted by the celestial magnetism of the downward-moving soul, and the downward-moving soul is attracted by the terrestrial magnetism of the rising soul. Each of them imparts something of its experience to the other, and the energy of that exchange hastens both on their path.

The account of the Nephilim and the daughters of men in Genesis, Ovid’s Metamorphoses, Thomas Moore’s poem “The Loves of the Angels,” and Wim Wenders’s film “Wings of Desire” all seem to allude to encounters of this kind.

My grandfather held that the phenomenon of exchange between ascending and descending souls provides an important and often-neglected perspective on the theory of reincarnation. Substance is recycled at all levels. Just as plants and animals absorb the elements of our physical body when it perishes (and to some extent before as well), so too do other beings incorporate the substance of our mental bodies into their own. This is in keeping, I think, with David’s insight that, “we incarnate into systems rather than into a body.”

I was given a tour of all the heavens that have been created: the Nirvanas, the Happy Hunting Grounds, all of them. I went through them. These are thought form creations that we have created. We don't really go to heaven; we are reprocessed. But whatever we created, we leave a part of ourselves there. It is real, but it is not all of the soul.

I saw the Christian heaven. We expect it to be a beautiful place, and you stand in front of the throne, worshipping forever. I tried it. It is boring! This is all we are going to do? It is childlike. I do not mean to offend anyone. Some heavens are very interesting, and some are very boring. I found the ancient ones to be more interesting, like the Native American ones, the Happy Hunting Grounds. The Egyptians have fantastic ones. It goes on and on. There are so many of them. In each of them there is a fractal that is your particular interpretation, unless you are part of the group soul that believes in only the God of a particular religion. Then you are very close, in the same ball park together. But even then, each is a little bit different. That is a part of yourself that you leave there. Death is about life, not about heaven.

I asked God, "What is the best religion on the planet? Which one is right?"

And Godhead said, with great love, "I don't care."

That was incredible grace. What that meant was that we are the caring beings here.

The Ultimate Godhead of all the stars tells us, "It does not matter what religion you are."

They come and they go, they change. Buddhism has not been here forever, Catholicism has not been here forever, and they are all about to become more enlightened. More light is coming into all systems now. There is going to be a reformation in spirituality that is going to be just as dramatic as the Protestant Reformation. There will be lots of people fighting about it, one religion against the next, believing that only they are right.

Everyone thinks they own God, the religions and philosophies, especially the religions, because they form big organizations around their philosophy. When Godhead said, "I don't care," I immediately understood that it is for us to care about. It is important, because we are the caring beings. It matters to us and that is where it is important. What you have is the energy equation in spirituality. Ultimate Godhead does not care if you are Protestant, Buddhist, or whatever. It is all a blooming facet of the whole. I wish that all religions would realize it and let each other be. It is not the end of each religion, but we are talking about the same God. Live and let live. Each has a different view. And it all adds up to the Big Picture; it is all important.

I went over to the other side with a lot of fears about toxic waste, nuclear missiles, the population explosion, the rainforest. I came back loving every single problem. I love nuclear waste. I love the mushroom cloud; this is the holiest mandala that we have manifested to date, as an archetype. It, more than any religion or philosophy on Earth, brought us together all of a sudden, to a new level of consciousness. Knowing that maybe we can blow up the planet fifty times, or 500 times, we finally realize that maybe we are all here together now. For a period they had to keep setting off more bombs to get it in to us. Then we started saying, "We do not need this any more."

Now we are actually in a safer world than we have ever been in, and it is going to get safer. So I came back loving toxic waste, because it brought us together. These things are so big. As Peter Russell might say, these problems are now "soul size." Do we have soul size answers? YES!

The clearing of the rain forest will slow down, and in fifty years there will be more trees on the planet than in a long time. If you are into ecology, go for it; you are that part of the system that is becoming aware. Go for it with all your might, but do not be depressed. It is part of a larger thing.

Earth is in the process of domesticating itself. It is never again going to be as wild a place as it once was. There will be great wild places, reserves where nature thrives. Gardening and reserves will be the thing in the future. Population increase is getting very close to the optimal range of energy to cause a shift in consciousness. That shift in consciousness will change politics, money, energy.

What happens when we dream? We are multi-dimensional beings. We can access that through lucid dreaming. In fact, this universe is God's dream. One of the things that I saw is that we humans are a speck on a planet that is a speck in a galaxy that is a speck. Those are giant systems out there, and we are in sort of an average system. But human beings are already legendary throughout the cosmos of consciousness. The little bitty human being of Earth/Gaia is legendary. One of the things that we are legendary for is dreaming. We are legendary dreamers. In fact, the whole cosmos has been looking for the meaning of life, the meaning of it all. And it was the little dreamer who came up with the best answer ever. We dreamed it up. So dreams are important.

After dying and coming back, I really respect life and death. In our DNA experiments we may have opened the door to a great secret. Soon we will be able to live as long as we want to live in this body. After living 150 years or so, there will be an intuitive soul sense that you will want to change channels. Living forever in one body is not as creative as reincarnation, as transferring energy in this fantastic vortex of energy that we are in. We are actually going to see the wisdom of life and death, and enjoy it.

As it is now, we have already been alive forever. This body that you are in, has been alive forever. It comes from an unending stream of life, going back to the Big Bang and beyond. This body gives life to the next life, in dense and subtle energy. This body has been alive forever already.

How to tell a Young Soul from an Old Soul

The following is a brief description of the characteristics of five basic soul levels. Each level has many lifetimes of lessons to teach us wisdom through trial and error.

THE INFANT SOUL
INFANT SOULS choose lessons of physical survival. They live in simple situations that include intense experiences - famine, plagues, floods, wars, oppression, etc. They don't know the difference between right and wrong, though they can be taught to be decent human beings. They don't usually seek higher education and often don't seek employment, as such. Infant souls don't question authority and willingly adopt the religion of their parents as is.

THE BABY SOUL
BABY SOULS display less fear than infant souls and are more
sophisticated. But they tend to over apply rules. Black is black as far as they're concerned. Their strong early beliefs remain fixed in their minds, regardless of lack of their wisdom or tolerance. Baby souls love to become big fish in their little puddles...but hate being opposed. Because of this they may spend much time in litigation. Baby souls don't spend time navel-gazing into their own lives. They're often "good students" that learn "proper subjects," and are attracted to
fundamentalist religions.

THE YOUNG SOUL
YOUNG SOULS are the "Donald Trumps" of the world...the movers and shakers. They usually set the bar too high for themselves. Achievement is paramount. They chase after what they believe will bring success without ever stopping to think why - because they're so limited in their perception. They fear death and must have all the toys, experiences, fame and money they can possibly accumulate before they die. They are designers of civilization. Young souls usually seek higher education and graduate-level degrees. Their views of orthodoxy are at one end of the spectrum or the other. Monks and nuns are at one end and a belief in total sexual freedom, the other. They have difficulty with insight into other people's behaviour.

THE MATURE SOUL
MATURE SOULS challenge the young soul's desire to "have it all." It is a hard cycle that demands seeking answers to life's tough questions. They are attracted to gentler faiths, such as Quaker, Unitarian, or Buddhist. Mature souls are not as open to the occult as old souls. They look for and question the motivation for all of life's actions. They often continue with inappropriate relationships - perhaps believing that through self-sacrifice, or tough lessons they will ultimately prevail. Often they can't shake their sense of duty. Mature souls suffer from stress related illness that sometimes results in schizophrenia, psychosis and a higher suicide rate than other souls. [Cayce emphasized the role that `stress' plays in not only physical illnesses but also mental illnesses; he believed it was `stress' that wrecked havoc on the brain chemistry/balance]. But they're smart enough to seek professional help without urging. Mature souls often make huge contributions to knowledge - particularly philosophical and scientific. But altogether they don't necessarily have the drive for fame, many still achieve it. They're emotionally high maintenance.

THE OLD SOUL
OLD SOULS live and let live. They seek the route of least
resistance...they're individualistic and usually easy going. They have an inner knowing of the waste of time in pursuing fame and fortune and therefore create the appearance of being "laid back." Old souls are highly competent - even in roles they don't particularly like. They tend to choose work that is pleasant and undemanding, leaving them free to pursue their desired goals easily...unless the job adds to the spiritual search. They may or may not seek higher education... but definitely will seek it if they sense it's needed for their chosen path. Old souls create confidence in animals. And their choice of medical care tends to be alternative and holistic. Old souls are here to teach others their spiritual understandings. Their philosophies and writings are simple and easy to read. Old souls religion is far reaching and has no
label. A grove of trees is a sacred place to them. They seldom cling to dogma and prefer personal spiritual practices. However, old souls are wise enough to be discreet in their religious practices and know how to pass in public undetected. They focus on searching for the spiritual truth and have a finer sense of knowing what is true than any other souls level. Old souls all over the world share the experience of emptiness and a longing for that feeling of home.

Expressions of the Oversoul

EXPRESSIONS OF THE OVERSOUL

“Oversoul” is a term that Jane Roberts, the innovative writer and psychic, coined. Think of your myriad reincarnational selves as planets in a solar system. The Oversoul is the Sun! The Oversoul exists “outside of time” and can operate in a frame-of-reference that is 5th dimensional and beyond. The Oversoul serves as the Heart-Center, maintaining contact with all the expressions of itself through time. For this reason, I like to think of the past, present, and future as Expressions of the Oversoul.

Jane and Seth (the Spirit she channeled) always stressed this basic maxim: “The Power is in the Present.” This is true with reincarnation especially, for we can only use the information we receive from reincarnational memories in our own present. Your different incarnations experience their own “presents” and in their own characteristic styles. As a Pagan artist, I like to think of each incarnation as an artwork of the Artist/Oversoul. Others may see their different incarnations as stories, each told by a Master Storyteller. Still others may find each incarnation as a game invented by a Mistress Inventor. These artworks, stories, and games often draw on each other for inspiration, and even overlap at times.

It makes no difference how you view the creative process of incarnating. The essence of the process is creativity. Creativity means learning to know the self, expressing the self, sharing the self with others, and letting go of parts of the self that are ready to be released. At its most advanced form, this process is pure, natural joy.

Time is simply a dimension (the 4th dimension), like length, width, and depth are dimensions. Through inter-dimensional interchange, different Expressions of the Oversoul can communicate and share with other Expressions of the Oversoul. I have learned that as I find out about my other incarnations, I develop relationships with them. Certain of my Expressions were “unfinished” in one way or another; and maybe in this life, if I choose, I can “finish” them in a creative way. Others seem to have resolved themselves, and those provide me with a foundation and a fountain of spiritual nourishment combined with practical knowledge...almost like having a psychic family to share their experiences with me.

Occasionally, people form an intense attraction or repulsion (or both!) to certain of their incarnations. It can become an obsession. If you find this happening to you, remember that obsessions can be turned to creative advantage. Instead of torturing your friends with constant harping on your particular penchant, you can work with that Expression in a creative union, a partnership, a collaboration.

Writing is a good way to work in such a partnership between dimensions. The two of you can create dialogues, stories, novels, and, as the threads begin to weave a pattern, you will find that you can work out any “kinks” that have echoed between your two magically-entwined lives.

Remember, always, that “love finds a way” — and DO love your Oversoul’s myriad Expressions as you love yourself! With this kind of intense relationship, you must remember not to be too hard on yourself or your partner in a destructive way. Also remember, however, that it’s good sense to work hard if you have a lot of energy to work out. Check yourself as you work to see whether your actions are resulting in something positive for you both. If not, stop and ask for guidance.

Spirit-guides are becoming known by many people, but did you know that everyone had at least ONE incarnation which is a direct-access bridge to the Oversoul? At least that’s what my guides have told me. As you discover your own incarnations, you will most likely find that a certain incarnation seems to bring the different melodies of each Expression into one big harmony. That is, you’ll have an incarnation that is so plugged into the Oversoul that a spiritual attunement can occur. Some would call it an “enlightenment.” This particular incarnation can be a great source of self-understanding, but rather than a guide, this incarnation can be more like a friend, a friend who has been through many of the same experiences that you have, one who has a “new” way of perceiving life/death/eternity, one who has “graduated” and is a beginning student in a “new school.” It is likely that this bridge-self may make mistakes from time to time, but any beginner knows that is the way to learn!

There are countless ways to use the awareness of Expressions of the Oversoul to enrich your everyday life. The way we experience the basics of food, clothing, and shelter is culturally learned, but our memories of other Expressions can bring deepened meaning into these experiences. Establishing links from your own personal Expression to other Expressions of your Oversoul can enhance the enjoyment and sharing of everyday activities—for instance, cooking!

In one of his books, Dick Sutphen (a past-life regressionist) describes how his friend, the artist Paladin, often channels other Expressions when cooking. He tells of one particular delicious dinner they shared where Paladin channeled an incarnation from ancient India. The dish included almonds. “Almonds were worth a man’s life in my time,” the Indian incarnation told them through Paladin’s lips. Well, I've got a live one. One that was certified by vedic astrology as it appears keen on that sort of thing, plus giving you a blow by blow account of your life events, which can make one wonder about the role of free will.
i have met several poseurs who claimed to have been old souls on the way out but they came across as souls -stuck-on repeat a little stuck on themselves.
This one appears genuine. Humble, simple, with a sense a humour and just the right move: not too much, not too, litlle just right, justperfect. This is perhaps how you really know.He is very well rounded.
Real spirituality does not wear itself on its sleeve. If you can see it parading around, sheeking look at me, look at me! it is not.
This is the first one that could be for real. I wonder how many more I have missed of these brillant humble finely attuned souls. I like that he is not perfect but almost..
Earth is not that hard to master. You must not get snagged in the useless drama. You must be disciplined and purify yourself always. Nothing must remain stuck.

Dreams of the Ancient Young

I had a dream about a young man who appeared at first to be in his early twenties. This man lived in the four corners region of the United States some time around 10,000 years ago or perhaps earlier, I am not certain. He had golden brown skin and, like I said, appeared to be very young but as I gazed into his eyes, I could tell that he was at the same time very young and very ancient. I could sense that he was a man of great power and wisdom.

We didn't speak to each other but rather held in common the same experience from two different poles of thought.
At first I had the impression that he had summoned me via a connection in time which I understand is "the path". Then I understood that the path had summoned us both to this encounter.
He was a wind listener.
He would stand in his circle of truth and listen to the winds. It was this wind listening that gave him his perception of the worlds through which the winds blow.
When listening to the wind, he did not perceive time in the normal sense (or should I say in the way I do). He would stand for days or perhaps weeks and listen.
I perceived that he had the power to call me into his world but would not because he knew that this would not serve a good purpose. Then it occurred to me that I could call him into my world but should not. He stood in his circle and I stood on my path, and we had communion of soul.
He showed me visions of creation, rock and water, male and female, old and young, light and dark, stillness and motion.
The most remarkable thing that stood out to me is the paradox of old and young.
He seemed to embody this paradox.

Since this encounter with the man I will call Golden Boy, I have had many other dreams that continue to enhance the experience.

Since the original dream, I have also been to a psychic who told me that I am a very old soul. This makes me wonder if my dream was more a remembering than a dream.

I have the feeling that the main point is that I am supposed to remember back to a time that could only be described as magic.
This was a time of star magic.
Star magic was alive in the soil, in the rocks, in the water, in the plants and in the animals. It was a time when only the language of creation was used.

Creation forces were at work in such abundance that it was not possible to even think a thought that would not materialize and incarnate.
There was no possibility of deception or any kind of half truth. Thought and action was one and the same thing, happening all at once, like lightning in the sky.

It occurred to me that to be in a state of constant re-creation of mind, body, and spirit was to experience immortality.
This is not the same as continuously being re-incarnated. Instead it is living a very long time but remaining always young.

I think that at one time there were a lot of people who were much like us but were very old while remaining very young.

Golden Boy was encouraging me to meditate on rock and water. Rock listens to the star power. Not just the sun but the stars. Rock is a good listener, enduring with rapt attention and focus for many, many years. Rock people will reveal their secrets to anyone who asks.
Water is good for forgetting. Wash away, wear down, dilute, and distract.

Rock is annoyed at water because water is always so playful and distracting. Rock wants to listen to the stars but water will not allow it.
Water is always tickling the ribs of rock to make him laugh and play.

Golden Boy gave me an assignment;

First consider rock which is spirit.
Then consider water which is spirit.
When you understand more about rock and water, consider wind. Wind is Spirit.
Then consider fire. Fire is Spirit.

Then consider that all living things are rock, water, wind and fire.

This all sounded very strange and unusual when I first encountered it. Since, I have been reading everything I can on the subject and have found that I am not the first to get this message. Nor is the message new. It was just new to me.

Or is it that I am new to me?
Or is it that I am old and new?

Interpretation of Soul Growth

Does anyone know about the Michael teachings? I know very little but had a housemate who studied it extensively through a modification of it called "Higher Alignment."

The idea behind Higher Alignment is to locate a life partner who has the most similarities to you so that you can see each other's failings, and support each other's strengths. The usual way is to go along with the attraction of opposites. With an opposite, you don't have personal, inside experience with their negatives and each can hide them from each other (I mean the buried, subconscious stuff). So growth is not so easily fostered in that relationship. Also, they don't tend to be as successful as relationships between similars. Birds of a feather flock together, kind of a thing. So they teach you all kinds of ways to discern right away whether someone is on the same wavelength you are, to save you time in finding your soul mate.

Anyway, the Michael teachings are channeled. Michael is a "group soul" that many different channels have access to, so you can find various channelers with this same information. There are books on the teachings, but I haven't found them to be real readable. The idea is that we are all sparks of God and we go thru life after life so that God can experience "otherness" and have all these myriad experiences. Eventually, we evolve and go back to God. So it's a circular thing. Soul growth basically follows the same growth pattern as a single human lifetime does. First there are infant souls. There aren't many at this time on the planet nowdays. You wouldn't know any of them. They would be brand new souls, probably incarnated deep in a jungle, just merely concerned with the basics of food and shelter and learning what life is. Souls go thru each phase many, many times. So there can be a young infant soul, a middle infant soul, and an old infant soul.

Then it finally progresses to a baby soul. There are lots of baby souls on the planet right now, especially in the U.S. (Our country is a young country, as far as countries go, too, so the soul of the U.S. is an adolescent. Can't you just see that?! LOL!)

Baby souls need strong direction, black and white rules they can follow, a strong parental figure to guide them. They are not capable of nuances because they just haven't been around long enough. The world is a very big, scary place. They are motivated by safety and security. Remind you of anyone? How about our puppet in the White House and all of his followers?

The next phase after many, many lifetimes as a baby soul, is to progress to adolescent age. That’s where so many Americans are. That’s when a soul realizes that the parents/leaders are not always right. They begin to develop an ego of their own and become curious about their own power in the world. They are quite often yuppies—the “me” generation. They are the CEOs of our corporations. They are very creative and energetic. They are greedy for power over others, for money because it gives power, and for accumulating things of their own. They are the most materialistic. They assert their egos on the world and use others for their own goals. They are chiefly concerned with how far they can go in life. There are young adolescent souls, middle adolescent souls, and old adolescents who are just about done with that phase. They have mined all the gold out of it and are ready to open up to what’s beyond all that.

So they incarnate finally as “mature” souls. They realize that, “Hey! There are other people out there besides just me!” They want to get involved in relationships. They are the ones who are chiefly concerned with relating. They create all kinds of drama in relationships because they want to know where they end and the other begins. They want to know what the boundaries and differences are in relating with others.

After many lifetimes exploring relationships, the soul matures into an old soul. This soul has incarnated over and over and over and over. It has seen just about everything and knows there is much more to life that does not meet the eye. Ordinary life starts to become too mundane, too meaningless to hold their interest. They become intensely interested in what’s beyond our immediate five senses. This is when the soul begins to experiment with meditation, drugs possibly, astral travel, psychic phenomena, etc. I’d say I’m probably an old mature soul/borderline to new old soul. I’m just recently done with relationships. I’m very aware of how much the “unseen world” has to offer, how happy I am in deep meditation compared to my ordinary life, and yet it’s still difficult to devote myself to pursuing it.

Beyond the old soul stage, comes the soul devoted to world service. These are the rare old souls like Mother Theresa, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., etc. They have deep mystical knowledge that all is God, and they just want to serve the Divine in all its manifestations. Their soul is getting ready to merge back into God.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of the teachings on soul growth. But I’ve found this part to make enormous sense. No wonder my family members have always thought I was off in the land of fruits and nuts! No matter how I’ve tried to explain and show them what I’m learning and what makes me who I am, they cannot begin to understand. It’s because they have not had the lifetimes of experience that I have. I think I’m an older soul than they are. My mother constantly asks why I need to continue “searching” and why I can’t just be happy where I am. It’s because I’m so deeply aware that what we see in front of us is not all there is! I’m being called to a deeper experience of reality. These teachings have given me much more patience with people and much more of a sense that everything and everyone is in its/their rightful place. I sure they grow up before totally destroying this planet, though! But I have heard one wise person say that having Bush in the White House is like having a baby with a machine gun in the house. The parents are not paying any attention and looking for the welfare of all concerned. So possibly that’s part of the role of old souls! I ponder this question a lot.

How is it that the baby or adolescent souls are always the ones in charge here?! I’m dying to know what you all think on this issue!

I've always thought this question was on the slight of absurdity. Personally, I wouldn't think twice about it. I think the notion that if you're a moral person then you should absolutely take the side of generalized compassion is slight of silly.
I think things are at work higher than my comprehension. And I don't mean to say that I believe in intelligent design, at least not exclusively. I don't necessarily think that mechanical workings are all-dominating either, though still possible for good explanation.

...but then again, I guess being a moral person might ado with doing what you can as opportunities arise. Arise the opportunity to change it, maybe a "moral person" would. I dunno, I second guess myself. Maybe I also second guess "morality," though, and stick with my original opinion.

I dunno, I was curious in what you folks in this group would come up with. Also thought this place could use some stirring.
What would you do? What other cool tangents can you come with?

Correlation and old-soulness

Hi everybody, I'm new here. My name is Brandon. Since I was young people said that I was "wise beyond my years" or "old" in the soul area, and I've always know that there was "something" more to life and to maybe myself. This seems like a great group of people to relate to! I hope to enjoy my visit and maybe contribute too.

The first thing that I'm wondering, for curiosity sake, is about some possible correlation between old soulness and some things like personality typing and life experiences.

What is your MBTI type?
Enneagram type?

Also, I wonder about the wise person and their relationship with losses. I've felt in my lifetime that I've experienced more than a good amount of important losses starting when I was very young. I wonder if this has to do with gained wisdom and a feeling of "oldness" or maybe the things that happen to person have to do with "oldness" in the soul.

I'd love to hear opinions!

It is funny that I was invited to this soul today, and read all about child visions

because tonight when i went to visit my neighbor/friend - it was late about 12:30 pm
her and her daughter were stillup
she told me for almost a month now her daughter has mentioned a man that she sees, and she talks to him, and asks others if they see him.
But recently she has been saying like "there is a bad man here mommy" "Mommy, hes a mean man"
and tonight her daughter came out of the back room screaming and crying that "he was mean"

any advice on what i could tell her to undersatnd her daughter?
she tries to ask questions about him but her daughter is only 2 ....

I have a fully packed life with events happening at breakneck speed sometimes.
I seem to defie all the odds and land on my feet though it takes a lot of maneuvering and work. I have amazing synchronicities.
I understand that I actually program my life this way. I am here to acquire wisdom through experience and am learning a great lot.
I do not see myself slowing down as I am genuinely learning.

Somehow, I feel that old soul should have more quiet peaceful lives as they flow through everything, all lessons learned. Maybe I am not quite there yet.

My next goal, and I like to defy all the odds, is to slow down the aging process so I learn all there is to know about this system and finally breakthrough...or just about.
I do not want to eternal on the earth system but stay long enough to master it.
Being reincarnated all the time is a waste of time.

A lot of the things that I read about, I have a feeling I was born knowing. I even remember banging my head against bars (in a previous life) and willing myself to remember...to remember.

Stuart Wilde claims that packing off the earth system is actually not that hard to achieve (It's always that way once you have done it, of course) and though the earth is a beautiful terrifying (at times) and awesome place there are more beautiful and peaceful system.
The earth was often a harsh school in the past.

Do you feel you are gearing near the end of your evolution here and what are your feelings on this?

Does anyone else here ever feel like the world (modern, western and industrial in particular) is being run by young souls? It's like the old souls have a sorta laissez-faire "been there done that" attitude. I dunno..it just seems like the old souls are not represented in the arenas of life that matter the most or effect the most change (i.e. polititics, business and the like) Then again, a lot of old souls are working behind the scenes at a grassroot level. I just would like to get other opinions on this.

Six Degrees of Separation and Old Souls

I have always considered the possibility that the small World experiences we have here in this life are often connected to some past or future World as well. I have often thought it possible that when we meet someone it seems like we have known for years that perhaps we have in another life and especially with regards to SoulMates. I also believe a person can have many Soul Mates in one lifetime and I thoroughly enjoy all those I believe to be mine.

Ok, I mentioned this in another tribe and I seem to have confused quite a few people. I want to make sure that I'm not crazy here to realize that, especially with us older souls, that there is a difference between our current given name and our soul's name. I mentioned it there because I know that I have been called one unpronouncable name (at least for me) with no idea how to spell it (assuming that the English language could). As soon as I was called this, I knew it was me though... Has anyone else run across this before? Is there possibly some other phrase this goes by like Astral Name?

3. Fruit juices - Avoid many juices sold to the common people. For example did you know when they make orange juice they use the entire orange? There’s many pesticides and herbicides in the peel. Then they can add carcinogenic dyes (including “red” dye for red wines.). Pasteurization heats the juices and destroys lifeforce.

4. Milk - Homogenized, fortified….fat reduced etc…all turns a pure wholesome food into a frankinfood because the high temperature processing denatures the proteins which make them difficult for our bodies to deal with since they no longer recognize these proteins. Then there’s either the plastic from the carton or the aluminum from the wax paper container that you also ingest. Cows are fed a diet of phosphate-based feed and hormones!.L

5. Sugar - Sugar is an addictive chemical that compromises a person’s immune system therefore making a person susceptible to illness and disease yet many people and businesses acts like it’s a major food group. Did you know popular artificial sweeteners convert to formaldehyde and formic acid (ant venom) in the body?

6. Meat – Many animals are still inhumanely treated. Consider the fact that many commonly consumed animals are fed phosphates to help them grow faster then pumped with hormones to help the meat retain water. Notice how some meats no longer fry and practically boil themselves from the inside out?

7. Phosphates – Phosphates are commonly found in many food items including meat and dairy, soy milk. Your body will need to grab some Calcium and Magnesium from your body or diet to deal with consumed phosphates.

8. Yoga – You don’t need weight, bikes, and exercise machines to have a fit body. Get to know your body by stretching it alone or with others. Poses squeeze your internal organs and glandular system like a wringing a sponge which has a healthy benefit. Bring oxygen to your brain by safely standing on your head. Wonderful!

9. Natural vs. unnatural. Generally speaking if it isn’t found in nature and you either consume it or smear it on your body, you will need to give up some of your lifeforce in order to deal with it. Our bodies do not recognize many of these artificial substances that are considered “normal” in our society. Rethink shampoos, soaps, hand crèmes, salad dressings, breads, fruit wax, soda pop, candy, lip balm, make up, deodorants, shaving cream etc.

10. Oil and flour – Many room temperature oils and flours commonly sold are in fact, rancid but special food processing masks this fact that should be, but isn’t detectible by scent. Hydrogenated veg. oils commonly used in restaurants are poison to the liver. Oil and flour are processed foods. Oil and flour purchased from refrigerators or made fresh are much better choices. Consider the miracle effects of Coconut oil if you struggle with weight or skin issues, consume it and try it on your skin and you will truly be AMAZED.

11. Acid-forming foods – Minimize foods that are acid-forming in the body such as vinegars, beer, pickles, sugar, oils, meats, coffee, black and green tea, chocolate, pop, aspirin, dairy, drugs in general. An acidic body creates a breeding ground for parasites, bacteria, STDs, viruses, amoebas and creates conditions that favour cancer.

12. Garlic – Raw garlic is a health miracle. One clove a day perhaps at the cost of about 2 cents/day. Affordable?

13. Nature – Many petals, barks, leafs, roots, tree resins, seeds are powerful medicines that are antifungal, antiviral, anticancer. Reconsidered “weeds” like Chickweed, Dandelion and Thistle..free from Creator! Add blood detoxifiers like fresh parsley, cilantro, watercress, mint, to meals. Get to know some of the natural medicines (hint: frankincense and myrrh!) that affect your glandular system, which regulates all bodily processes particularly the pituitary gland and the pineal gland (both associated with third eye located at forehead). In some spiritual traditions, everyday life is considered "worldly" -- and "lower." Consequently, the spiritual quest aims to leave practical life behind. But for MOST people, neglecting practical affairs is unwise, and spiritually unproductive. And for ALL people, to have a truly spiritual life, EVERY aspect of life must be spiritualized.

The distinctions between "higher" and "lower" become somewhat arbitrary when we view life as a whole. We NEED our spirituality to pervade not only our specific spiritual practices, but also our everyday activities and our relationships! To realize that goal, we had better clean up our unenlightened habits and beliefs where they flourish -- in everyday life

A solid foundation for a life of truth
There's always a child bold enough to think he could run the country right now. But one cannot succeed by skipping steps. Similarly, a strong spiritual life is built from the ground up -- on solid practical foundations.

The apparently humble domain of practical living is a good place to find and fix errant patterns of thought and behavior. A few years ago there was a popular book entitled, "Everything I Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten." The practical sphere is often viewed as the kindergarten of cosmic schooling. (It is really more like "adult education" however, because children -- and spiritual beginners -- don't take it seriously enough -- yet.) We may not learn EVERYTHING we need to know from everyday life, but we certainly get the essential prerequisites for everything ELSE.

For example, in grappling with ordinary situations, we learn to face and conquer our survival fears, get a grip on tangible self-responsibility, and adapt to the rudimentary ethical demands of getting along with others. All of these nitty-gritty victories are necessary preparations for the high wire dancing we'll do in more in more exalted states of consciousness.

Although handling our mundane obligations is far from glamorous and may sometimes make us shed blood, sweat, and tears, "taking care of business" in the practical sphere gives us a tremendous -- and essential -- head start on our more sophisticated spiritual endeavors.

Implementation is partnering with God
Everyone knows that faith without works is dead -- and that spiritual life, to be true, must be LIVED. Spiritual values worthy of the name deserve -- and indeed call for -- living, dynamic, real-world expression. After all, spiritual purposes of all kinds, both human and Divine, can only be furthered to the extent that spirituality finds active expression in daily life. Likewise, only living implementation allows us to be instruments of God's work here on earth.

The prayer, "Thy will be done," may be the highest of all expressions of spirituality. Likewise, spirit-inspired implementation may be the highest expression of individual human will and personal effort. Spiritual action is, in reality, a cooperative partnership between the child of God and the Divine parent in order to HELP God's will be done. For it has been truly said, "God has a problem: He has no hands or feet." God NEEDS us to implement spirituality here on earth. In doing so, we find our rightful place in the universe as creative and response-able children in the family of God.

Opportunities for spiritual implementation
Ordinary life is ordinary ONLY when one takes an ordinary approach to living. It becomes extraordinary when spiritually lived.

The practical sphere of spiritual life involves bringing spirituality to ordinary life in EVERY practical way. Spiritual implementation takes many forms, including:
• responsible living, including practical and financial self-maintenance, and appropriate health practices such as wholesome diet and regular exercise;
• self-discipline and self-culture;
• personal service to human individuals and to humanity as a whole;
• self-transcending teamwork and cooperation.

Living spirituality in everyday life is not only our responsibility -- it is our joy. Invariably, living spiritual PRACTICE puts fresh Spirit wind in our sails. The soul gains evolutionary traction by implementing, in the theatre of manifest life, what is spiritually known and felt. To the extent that we LIVE what we know, and bring our spiritual inspirations to life, we don't just feel relieved of the guilt of inaction -- we feel Divinely, sublimely empowered, delighted, excited! What could be more satisfying than to bring a ray of Divine light into the world around us!

Healthy life challenges
A yogi in a cave is peaceful, and why not? It is relatively easy to be peaceful in seclusion, but that's no great accomplishment. The yogi has eliminated from his life practically everything he might find irritating!

We all have our own version of the yogi's cave, in which we are blessed with wonderful spiritual experiences now and then. Unfortunately, however, we lack the ability to HOLD that ground of higher consciousness when we return to our ordinary circumstances. Yet isn't that the implicit goal of spiritual practice -- the ability to maintain our peace under conditions that are exciting, distracting, even upsetting? Yes! We aspire to stable, unshakeable Spirit-consciousness.

How do we get there? We get there by rightly embracing the everyday difficulties the traditional renunciant may have excluded. We develop spiritual strength by cultivating spiritual responses to the trials and tribulations of daily living. And luckily for us, life has in store for us many practical challenges -- each of them an opportunity for spiritual growth.

Rise to your challenges! Most people err on the side of cowardice, underestimating their abilities. But excessive caution slows growth. It is good to know your own weaknesses, but never overestimate them, because that only feeds them. Although some of our challenges are daunting, and victory is never assured, there are three compelling reasons for taking the bull by the horns:

1. Win or lose, we are better off for having faced the challenge. If we take God's dare, go into some of those highly fruitful areas, and manage to dodge the pitfalls, then we gain both strength and confidence. Even if we get tripped up by our own liabilities, all is not lost, for even a challenge that defeats us can leave us with increased determination and insight.
2. There is no victory whatsoever in running away from the challenges. Conceding the battle before it begins adds nothing to our strength, motivation, or experience.
3. Facing challenges is what life -- especially spiritual life -- is ALL ABOUT. Life is for rising to the challenges, passing the tests, and overcoming the liabilities. Remember, Christ didn't say, "Withdraw from the world." Instead, he said, "Be in the world, and not of it." He knew there is a reason for being born here. It's spiritually appropriate to be in the world AS WELL AS not of it. We grow only by facing challenges.

Take God's dare, and you will be glad you did.

Spiritual tests of practical living
There are different ways to view ordinary living. One is, it's a waste of time. That view MAKES it a waste of time. Another view is, ordinary living is a test of spiritual values, soul intention, and spiritual mettle. That view correctly sees the circumstances of so-called ordinary life as a very efficient and effective way to uncover and correct our flaws and to solidify our gains. How but through real-world experience can we measure how far we've come; recognize and repair our weak spots; and see where we've developed competence? In facing everyday challenges, we gain valuable insight into our areas of strength and weakness.

For example, it's easy to "love everyone" while sitting alone on our meditation cushion. But in ordinary interactions at work or at the dinner table, we find golden opportunities to confront and gradually transcend our ego's persuasive justifications for NOT loving this or that particular person in this particular moment. NOW is always the time for spiritual practice. And HERE is always the place to share higher love and higher consciousness with all of God's children.

Some tests we fail, others we pass. But what's really important in all the ups and downs is what we LEARN (and, of course, whether we ADJUST accordingly). Even "failed tests" correct our course, refreshing and refining motivations. Everything is grist for the spiritual mill if we construe it that way.

Passed tests provide confirmation and validation
Spiritual growth is hard to measure -- especially in oneself. We can't just sit there and introspect about how we're doing; we're as likely as not to judge ourselves wrongly. Also, too much internal self-watching is spiritually unhealthy.

Here again, the practical sphere comes to our rescue. We see objective evidence of our progress in our improved performance in the theatre of living. Real increments of spiritual growth may be revealed in practical-life observations like these:
1. We're having a visibly improved influence on others.
2. We've got noticeably better ability to hold higher consciousness through the fire of earthly hopes and disappointments.
3. We're seeing thrilling evidence that FOLLOWING inner guidance creates marvelous results under real-world conditions.
4. We discover we actually feel grateful, not defensive, when we (or someone else) sees one of our flaws -- because now we can fix it!

Do as the ADVANCED practitioners do
The importance of the practical sphere of life is one of spirituality's "best kept secrets" -- because so many people don't want to hear about it! A wise man once remarked, "My instructions on the importance of the practical sphere are for my advanced students only -- who else is ready for them?" Spiritual beginners prefer to jettison responsibilities and relationships so they can focus on things they consider to be "more lofty." Experienced spiritual practitioners take their earthly commitments and relations far more seriously.

Which group do you want to be in? The slow-learning group, who look down on ordinary responsibilities, or the advanced group, who recognize that every part of life is "spiritual"? To go to the head of the spiritual class, embrace the practical!

Could use some Advice for my Soul ;)

I've dreamed of traveling for a while now. My soul never loved the corporate world working at Geico and I freed myself. Took off to Arizona, travled around for a few weeks. Moved back to VA to care for my Mom. She's all better after a few months now i'm back on the road. While I was in VA I had a great opportunity working for Intregal Yoga a very new age openminded store. I purchased a full seven bowl crystal singing bowl set. They are incredible for meditation and I hope to share them in my travels. I also met a really awsome woman online while searching where I wished to travel. So I left for a week and ended up meeting this woman in Salt Lake. No... she's not mormon hehe .
She is a really cool chick I dig her and i've been here for the past couple weeks living with her. Split rent with her which did hurt my budget as i've not yet found a job. Ultimately I feel like she's kinda drawn me into a serious relationship i'm not ready for. I've tried to talk to her and shes come at me with some serious reactions. She showed me how big of a bitch she can be which she admits... Virgos... /sigh. But I don't think I can deal with that or really want that.
Let me shut up now and get to it...

I believe my lifes mission is to serve. God... the Tao... Humanity... whatever. I'm very spiritual no particular denomination if I had to pick I would be Taoist. In meditation I am constantly reminded my mission is to be selfless. This is something i'm slowly growing into and is amazing. The bowls helped me a lot allowing me to really help and share something with people. Now I want to further my selflessness, letting go of my ego, building on my future skills as an artist. I'm ready to travel if needs be or stay in Salt Lake. I don't think i'm meant to be with this woman which I will tell her shortly.
If you have any advice of some great places, communities, monestaries, schools, or a couch to lend? I think i'd like to continue west as i've never been to California. I also really wanna see Montana, Oregon, Washington... ok hell I wanna go everywhere.

Meditation for dynamic living, enlightened beings

Hello everyone.

Well, there are many ways to meditate as stated in books and such, but i believe one needs a true Guru/master who has perfected the meditation techniques and is capable of empowering/initiating someone. i've met a Guru like that, and have been taught several techniques which includes a divine shield, healing techniques, goal achieving technique, breathing and meditation. Please read on to find out more. By the way, i'm posting this in other tribes as well, and if this isn't the first time you saw/read this post, i'm sorry.

The Guru's name is Yoga Jnana Sitthar Om Sri Rajayoga Guru Saranam. His Divine Grace is the most powerful sitthar on earth right now who is helping common people like us by initiating/ empowering us. "sitthars" are extremely powerful and enlightened beings who normally would not associate themselves with common people like us. They would be living in forests, mountains etc and meditating there. Sitthars are capable of doing absolutely anything. These beings are able to transform themselves into a mountain/ change into an atom/ materialise things from thin air/ walk on water etc - anything at all! There are many enlightened beings like this at this moment, but only this being right now has chosen to come down and help commoners. In the olden times, commoners who would like to be empowered/ initiated by an enlightened being would have to separate themselves from their family members, and go to the jungles, to live there. They would be staying there serving the Guru that they had chosen, washing the Guru's clothes and doing other services for the Guru. However, at the end of the period of time (which is normally 12 years), it's up to the Guru whether he/she would want to empower that particular person with a particular technique, say the divine shield technique etc. In other words, a commoner who goes to the forests to serve the Guru after a period of 12 years MIGHT be blessed with a divine shield if the Guru is pleased with the disciple's work. Also, the disciples are mostly blessed with A particular technique, and not a bunch of them that i've stated. So, the 12 years is cut down to a one-day course now. Amazing, huh? It's truly a blessing if you ask me. I've been a disciple of His Divine Grace since june 2001, and have been seeing miracles happening before my eyes.

To become a disciple of His Divine Grace, one must attend a programme where he/she would be taught the techniques that i've mentioned earlier. There are no restrictions to take this programme whatsoever, that is, one need NOT become a vegetarian/ quit smoking/ drinking etc if one takes this programme. One would be initiated by His Divine Grace, and would be free to do as he/she pleases. If one practices the techniques taught, one would see miracles happening. This programme would benefit anyone in both, their spiritual AS WELL AS their material life.

Taking the divine shield technique as an example, can you imagine having a divine shield around you 24/7?? meaning you'd be protected from all kinds of dangers - black magic, murders, voodoo, accidents and so on. As one practices the divine shield technique, the shield gets bigger and stronger over time. Say for example, someone took this programme and practised the divine shield technique, and later he got into an accident. But he only escaped with minor bruises on his face. His whole car was smashed etc, but he escaped unharmed. That is the beginning stage. If one even gets into an accident, he/she is saved..but as i mentioned earlier, as one practices the technique, the divine shield gets stronger and stronger, and those kinda incidents wouldn't happen in the first place.

I've had countless numbers of experiences by the blessings of my Master. For example, i used to have asthma, and the specialist told me that asthma is a sickness which cannot be cured, but can only be controlled etc. However, after practicing the healing technique, i've been completely cured from it, and am an asthma-free person till today.

There was this another miracle experienced by another disciple that i know of. He was in the driver seat (with the seat-belt put on), and no one else were there with him at that time. So anyway, as he was driving he got rammed into by a truck and the front part of his car (upto the driver's seat got smashed). The thing was after the accident, the guy realised that he was in the passenger seat (next to the driver seat), with the seat-belt put on. It was like he got transferred from the driver's seat to the passenger's seat before the accident to prevent him from being dead (he sure would have been dead if he was in the driver's seat).

I could go on and on you see, relating experiences, but i'd move on for now.

There is a small payment which is Ringgit Malaysia 730 (a site to convert the Malaysian Ringgit currency to whatever currency your country is using: www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi ) that needs to be made. The money goes for all the poojas that His Divine Grace needs to do before initiating a commoner. This is cause before His Divine Grace can initiate a commoner, part of that person's karma must be absorbed first by His Divine Grace. By the way, these poojas are done in several places in the world by this Guru. I believe that another reason why commoners are supposed to pay to enroll themselves in this programme is cause if one gets it free, one would most likely not appreciate it. On the other hand, if one actually pays a certain amount of hard-earned money, he/she would not want the money to be lost uselessly, and would tend to practice the techniques taught. Some people have told me that the Guru is trying to do some money-making schemes here. LOL. Do you know how ironic that is? Considering the fact that beings like this are capable of materialising the money by themselves, out of thin air.

I once came there's this beautiful quote, which i'd like to share with all of you here: "As we walk on the path of light, we come in touch with the ultimate truth and that ultimate truth is the recognition of being a spirit or soul. We recognize that this human life has a purpose and that the purpose is to not only know ourselves, not only know that we are spirit or soul, but to have our soul merge in God, the source from which we all came. As we understand the purpose of our existence, as we learn the truth, we then try our very best to make that truth available to others."

So that's exactly what i'm trying to do - spreading the Light/ the good word as i've already seen it working for me. It has worked for thousands of people as well.

I've told this to many people online before and some of them found it hard to believe, like it's too good to be true or something, but anyway, i feel it's my duty to let everyone know that something like this truly exists.

been called mellow...?

I was in a job interview last week when the person who would be my supervisor made an observation... in itself it wasn't strange, but to me, her concern over it was. She said, "Don't take this the wrong way, but you have a very calm and mellow personality.. I'm just wondering if anyone might think, 'does she ever get excited over anything?'" She brought this up several times.

I am younger than her in years (33).. how could I tell her that I feel I've seen it all? I often feel about 70 at least. That doesn't mean I don't get excited any more, but I think it's important to learn how to channel this energy so it does not come back and sting upon potential disappointment. To put both good and bad in perspective, in other words. Isn't this just a part of any adult's maturity?

Humans are so strange sometimes.

Anyway... what's even stranger is she seemed pretty mellow and calm to me, so I would have thought meeting a like-minded person would be a good thing.

A One-Hundredth Monkey Kind of Experiment

Of late there have been many dark sides of the world revealing themselves to me. I have always tended to believe, as Einstein did, that a problem is never solved in the same energy that it was created in. I offer the "Only Love Prevails Experiment" as an answer to the apathy and depression that occurs around these dark and hopeless images. It is simple and follows the common laws of physics, thus following the laws of truth. I think that it's a fun way of moving out negative images and thoughts in little effort.

KING: Deepak Chopra, how can you have faith when you see something like this?

DEEKAPK CHOPRA, AUTHOR: Hi, Larry. In fact, your faith increases, Larry.
Because faith is trusting that God is all the forces, the forces of creation, the forces of protection and the forces of destruction. This is an opportunity for us to transcend our religious differences, our ethnic boundaries, and create a new humanity which is based on love, sharing, compassion, giving.

And we are seeing that. The militaries of the world are getting together to bring relief. People are losing their differences in Sri Lanka. The Buddhists and the Hindus and the Muslims are getting together. This is our opportunity.

You know in historical traditions, in religious traditions, God rained on the earth for 40 days. And from that came Noah's Ark and the creation of a new humanity. Can we create a new humanity that is not based on militarism ethnocentrism, racism, bigotry, hatred, and prejudice?

KING: Deepak, if he loves us why does he bring us such pain that could be prevented?

CHOPRA: I think, Larry, one of the problems right now is we keep referring to God as him and his. We have a very sexist, male identity that we've given to God. I agree with Michael Lerner, that our idea of God, our concept of God, our experience of God, changes as we evolve. I think the idea of sin and punishment is very, very primitive. And we have to ask ourselves right now, are we going to choose between sin and compassion? Compassion is the way to go right now.

And you know, there's lots of evidence, even scientific, that the earth is a living organism. The gaia (ph) hypothesis. Is it possible that our consciousness and the turbulence in our consciousness has anything to do with the turbulence in nature? Michael Lerner just referred to that. One of the very interesting things that happened with the tsunami was, no animal died. The elephants. The hares. The rabbits. The birds. They were so tuned in to the forces of nature that they escaped. They ran. Some of the elephants broke their chains and ran to the high level mountainous area where the tidal waves could not reach. We have lost that connection. Is there a way that we can collectively transcend to a level of consciousness where we see that the turbulence in our collective mind, possibly, is inseparable from the turbulence in nature? Because we are part of nature.

KING: Is it hard, Deepak Chopra, to stay up? In other words, is it hard to ground that feeling of good will when you see a tragedy like this?

CHOPRA: No, it in fact helps you ground that feeling of good will, Larry. You have to remember, as again, Rabbi Lerner said something very profound. The actual figure is 40,000 children are dying every day of preventable causes. 23 million people have died since World War I due to war and related violence. Right now there are 35 wars going on in our world. This is an opportunity for us to say, the cataclysmic events in nature are so big, but the inhumanity of man to man is even bigger. And can we learn from this, that at least there are certain things that we can do to make this a better world? What can we do? This is our opportunity to go beyond our religious differences because of what's happening. It brings out the essential goodness of man.

CALLER: The question is, do you have any advice as to the masses, exactly how to keep this a little more balanced?

KING: Good question.

CHOPRA: It's a very good question. You know, the idea here is that if we quiet the turbulence in our collective mind and heal the rift in our collective soul, could that have an effect on nature's mind, if nature has a mind? The gaia hypothesis says nature does have a mind, that the globe is conscious. So a critical mass of people praying or a critical mass of people collectively engaging in meditation could conceivably, even from modern physics point of view, through non-local interactions, actually simmer down the turbulence in nature. And there are precedents for this in all the religions. That when you pray, that you quieten your mind, that you go into deep silence, you change the way nature behaves. That it's not a cause/effect relationship; it's the inseparability of one consciousness that manifests itself in the diversity of creation.

KING: Deepak, do you doubt?

CHOPRA: No, Larry, I don't doubt. But I do feel sorry sometimes that we have allowed God to be hijacked by religious dogma. For example, right now on the show there aren't any women. You know, why is that? Every time we do a show on God, religion, it's always us males representing these different traditions. We need to realize that when we share our suffering, out of that comes compassion. And out of compassion comes love and understanding. And from that comes healing. As long as we stick to "my" version of God, we're going to have problems. I say that right on the show.

(As an aside, Chopra's comment about the absence of women led King to ask the other participants whether he was right and if there was a religious show on television the next night, would they expect to see a woman. The responses led King to suggest a program just on that issue.)

20 is not forever

Most young people I know rarely-to-never seem to express any awareness that old age will be upon them, too, soon enough...

Aren't modern Americans kind of notorious for chasing after eternal youth? (botox, face lifts, viagra, hair implants, etc)

Whereas, other people seem to really identify with whatever age they are, & however society has more 'traditionally' expected someone of that age to act...

I've always seen age as such a fleeting thing.

Even at 25 I can look back & say that - my teens & early 20's were not all they could have been, *should* have been - I *should* have been at the peak of my 'dating' life, coveted & exploring & experimenting - & yet, I barely scratched the surface...

My timeline feels so off sometimes, I have a really hard time trying to insert myself into 'where I'm supposed to be' at my age...in certain areas at least...& yet I have this sense of time rushing by & me needing to not squander my youth...

I guess that's why I started this tribe - to see if anybody else lives daily with a similar sense of things...!

Years ago I had my handwriting analyzed, if you believe in that sort of thing, I sort of do. Anyway one of the characteristics according to my handwriting indicated I possessed an uncanny ability to see people as they really are. I don't know if that's true, because a few have managed to surprised me, but---not that often nor that much, actually.

Also the findings indicated I was more concerned with the spiritual world than here and now---I think that is definitely true. I say that not because I'm pining to leave this world, but because during a period when my belief in a higher power was greatly threatened--- this created a despondency that the majority of my family wasn't able to comprehend. To be honest I didn't fully understand it either until years later.

My question is, do any of you feel this way, as if beyond carries more weight when it comes to importance than this realm, as if you don't exactly fit in here?

Wow, what a vital, relevant, profoundly beautiful celebration...

To make peace with death because its just another phase along the same continuum of life...

Such an important, potentially society-altering concept...!
